Lecture: Lineage of Eccentrics

Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Museum of Fine Arts, Harry and Mildred Remis Auditorium (Auditorium 161), Avenue of the Arts, 465 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02115

Explore the exhibition “Takashi Murakami: Lineage of Eccentrics: A Collaboration with Nobuo Tsuji and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston” with curator Anne Nishimura Morse. The term “lineage of eccentrics,”  was coined by noted art historian Professor Nobuo Tsuji to describe outlier Japanese artists whose “lineage” is not a conventional master-disciple relationship, but one marked by a certain expressionist bent along with bizarre image-making. Discover through the exhibition, how contemporary artist Takashi Murakami sees his place in that lineage.

Anne Nishimura Morse, William and Helen Pounds Senior Curator of Japanese Art
