Join us for this timely lunchtime discussion with former Ambassador Akio Kawato! 


Ambassador Akio Kawato earned his MA from Harvard University. He served as a diplomat for 35 years in Germany, the Soviet Union/Russia, Sweden, and the United States, including as Consul General in Boston. Mr. Kawato is a former ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. He has been a senior researcher at the Research Institute of Capital Formation and the Development Bank of Japan. Mr. Kawato was a visiting professor at Tokyo University, and currently is a columnist for Newsweek in Japan.
