MFA Boston - Festival of Films from Japan

February 1 - February 28, 2019

MFA Boston, 465 Huntington Avenue,
Boston, MA 02115

MFA Film is thrilled to present a vibrant showcase of the very best recent films produced in Japan. Don’t miss Hirokazu Kore-eda’s poignant family drama Shoplifters, winner of the top prize at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival; and Masaaki Yuasa’s animated adventure The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl, about a college student whose fondness for fancy cocktails and rare books leads to a string of increasingly bizarre encounters. The festival opens with a free screening of Mari Okada’s breathtaking anime Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms, about an immortal girl who has the power to weave her thoughts and emotions into fabric.
