The young photographer, Sugiura Keita's Dark Forest series proved to be a sensational debut in Japan, followed by a series of successful exhibitions in Miami, New York, Boston and the Ukraine. In the past two years he has produced additional new series of work, and his second exhibition in Boston at KEIKO Gallery in May, 2011, will feature his most recent series.

This exhibition, MY ROOM: Life and Death in the Mountain, is markedly different from his previous work because it documents the life of an elderly woman he calls ‘Ms.T,’ an eccentric artist who lives in near seclusion in the mountains of Japan’s Okayama Prefecture. More tellingly, this exhibition documents a profound influence ‘Ms.T’s’ views of life and death have had on Sugiura himself.
