Artisan Workshop: Book Binding

Book binding is the process of physically assembling an ordered stack of paper sheets to make a book. In this beginners class we will introduce you to handmade bookbinding methods, specifically Japanese stab-bound technique. By the end of these two three-hour sessions, you will have your own complete, customized book! Things We'll Cover - Different approaches to binding (such as accordion, signature, stab, fold and perfect styles) - How to use bookbinding tools and the importance of archival materials - What are zines and how to make them - Basic embroidery stitches to customize and embellish book covers This workshop takes place over two sessions, each three hours. Ticket cost covers tuition and all material costs. The first workshop sessions are Tuesday, February 19th and 26th. The second workshop sessions are Tuesday, March 19th and 26th.
