Kusakabe Masakazu’s extraordinary energy and enthusiasm for ceramics is matched only by his dedication to making wood fired kilns ecologically and environmentally safe and effective. After considerable experimentation in building various kilns and testing them, in 2007 he created an impressive energy efficient, smokeless kiln. Since then Kusakabe’s reputation, and that of his revolutionary eco kilns have spread to many far- reaching locations in the world. He has been invited to teach the building of this kiln and to demonstrate it in the US, Canada, England, France, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Turkey, and China.

He also enjoys the communal nature of kiln building with other people and the satisfaction it brings them. This explains to an extent his vigorous mission to spread his knowledge of his new energy efficient, smokeless kiln to as much of the world as is possible.
