In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the nation of Japan’s donation of 3000 Cherry Blossom Trees to the Capital City of the United States of America. Today we renew the friendship expressed at that time with a new commitment of friendship and appreciation of mutual cultures.

These saplings are of the same variety as those planted in the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC in 1912. They are presented by the Government of Japan to the City of Pawtucket Rhode Island in deep appreciation for the aid and assistance given to Japan during the 2011 Tohoku earthquake.
