People warn, “No one has ever returned from Cat Mountain!” But Sho, a young servant girl journeys to the strange and far-off mountain anyway where she hopes to find her freedom and her lost cat. Behind the Mask Theatre brings this magical folktale to life in an original adaptation featuring puppetry, dance, masks, and Japanese theater styles. After the performance, join the actors in the Peabody Museum for a mask-making workshop! Create masks with simple materials from designs based on traditional Japanese masks or characters in the play. Admission to the Harvard Museum of Natural History is included; explore the Africa and Asia galleries to find lions, tigers, and other members of the cat family.
